High Sockless Drob gets 4 outs as Yankees beat Rays 6-4.
Bottom of the 7th inning, 2 outs and Evan Longoria is at the plate. Not wanting to take any chances, Joe calls in Drob to replace Boone Logan. Surprisingly though, Robertson did not wear his trademark high socks today. Instead he opted to go with the long pants. But it didn’t matter because Robertson got the job done. Longoria did get a single, but Robertson got Matt Joyce to pop up to Derek Jeter to end the inning. Later on in the bottom of the 8th Robertson is up again to face Luke Scott, who pops up to Alex Rodriguez in foul territory for the 1st out. Next man up is Jeff Keppinger who strikes out looking for the 2nd out. Lastly, BJ Upton strikes out swinging for the last out.
Total strikeouts: 2
Total amount of money donated: $200
DROB – 9/3
Busy inning today!
First off Keppinger started off with a base hit off DRob, and Rich Thompson pinch ran for him. Stolen base attempt, but Russell Martin got him for the first out. After a long argument between the second base umpire and the Rays manager, he was thrown out. Anyway, Ben Francisco is next. Fly out, and after a collision between Ichiro Suzuki and Chris Dickerson, Dickerson got it for two outs.Ryan Roberts afterwards, and got a base hit. Roberts steals second. Chris Gimenez is up with a hit, and has Roberts score. 4-3 Rays now, and still two outs. Johnson is up, and strikes out swinging to end the inning.
Total strikeouts: 1.
Total money donated to HSFH: $100.
Quick 1-2-3 inning for Drob on 1st day of September
David Robertson came in today in the 8th inning after the Yankees rallied in the 7th to take the lead. 1st batter up is Adam Jones who flies out to Nick Swisher in RF for the 1st out. Next guy is Matt Wieters who grounds out to Nix for the 2nd out. Finally Chris Davis grounds out to Cano for the last out. No K’s for Drob today but a nice, efficient 1-2-3 inning for him. It seems like Drob has been getting a bit less K’s lately.
BABY BORN – DROB STAYS WITH YANKEES
David and Erin Robertson had their baby on August 27th. Thinking he would go on a type of “maternity” leave, he didn’t. I went to the game the day of this, and he actually pitched! He pitched a scoreless inning, and even had a strikeout. Now, when Luke Joseph Robertson is older, and asked what happened when he born, DRob can proudly say “I pitched, and it was scoreless. Also, I had a strikeout.”
CONGRATS DAVID AND ERIN!!
DAVID ROBERTSON: THE TRUSTED MAN IN THE BULLPEN
After Hughes’s somewhat successful 7 innings, they put in DRob… Here we go:
Robertson starts off to face Jacoby Ellsbury. He grounds out to Jason Nix for one out.
Next up, Carl Crawford. He grounds out, but it hits Robertson’s ankle and makes Crawford reach second base safely. Continues to be 1 out.
Next, Dustin Pedroia is at bat. He flys out far to Curtis Granderson for two outs. Adrian Gonzalez next at bat, grounds out to first baseman Nick Swisher to make the final out.
Strikeouts: 0.
Donations to HSFH: $0.
DRob’s 1-2-3 Inning
David Robertson ended the 8th inning with 2 strikeouts, and a 6-3 play.
To start off, Mike Ott was called out on strikes. 1 out, strikeout, $100. Next up, Ian Kinsler was called out of strikes. He was also ejected from the game by arguing on the final strike. Lastly, Elvis Andrus grounded out to Derek Jeter, 6-3 play.
Total donated to High Socks For Hope: $200.
1 pitch = 2 outs for Robertson on 08/11/12
Today David Robertson came in the 8th inning with 1 out in relief of Ivan Nova who pitched a pretty good game going 7 and 1/3 innings and allowing 2 runs. Robertson didn’t really have to do anything today as Omar Vizquel grounded into a double play on the first pitch to end the inning.
Robertson vs Jays 8/10/2012
David Robertson comes in the 8th inning in relief of Joba Chamberlain who gave up a leadoff single to Anthony Gose. Rajai Davis is the next batter and while he is batting Gose ends up stealing 2 and 3rd base. Robertson ends up walking Davis to put a runner at 1st and 3rd with no outs. Colby Rasmus comes up next and grounds out into a double play, which allows Gose to score. Edwin Encarnacion comes up next and he pops up to Nick Swisher to end the game.
No strikes out for Drob but he gets the job done. Yankees win 10-4.
Robertson not at his best! 8/8/2012
Bottom of the 7th inning this time. 2 outs, 1 man on. Joe Girardi decides to take CC out of the game after giving up 4 runs cutting down the Yankees lead to 8-4. In comes Robertson to get the last out. First man he faces is Delmon Young. Delmon Young ends up getting an infield hit which should have been an inning ending groundout to Cano. But Teixeira overextended himself trying to do too much and was not able to get the ball. So instead of letting Cano make the play to end the inning, the runner is safe at first, while Miguel Cabrera moves to third. Unfortunately instead of picking Teixeira up and getting the next guy out, David allows a single to Andy Dirks. Cabrera scores and it is 8-5 Yankees. Young moves to 3rd on the play and he would then score on another single by Brennan Boesch, and it is now 8-6 Yankees. Alex Avila comes in to pinch it and he too gets a single, which allows Andy Dirks to score. 8-7 Yankees. Finally Robertson gets out of the inning by getting Ramon Santiago to ground out to Cano. Not a very good inning by Robertson where he only needed to get 1 out.
Yankees do score 2 runs in the top of the 8th to extend the lead to 10-8. Robertson comes back to pitch the eight inning and this went a little more smoothly. He strikes out Austin Jackson for the 1st out, but then gives up a home run to Omar Infante. Miguel Cabrera comes up next and Robertson gets him to fly out to center field. And that would be it for Robertson as Girardi brings in Boone Logan to face Prince Fielder.
Yankees win a wild one 12-8. Not Drob’s best outing but these things happen. Just need to forget about this game and just keep on dominating.
Robertson’s outing 8/5/2012
Robertson gets called in the 8th inning. Yankees lead 6-2. Jesus Montero comes up to bat first and he grounds out to Jayson Nix for the 1st out. Next man up is John Jaso who grounds out to Jayson Nix as well for the 2nd out. Kyle Seager gets walked. Finally Eric Thames flies out to Curtis Granderson for the final out. No strikeouts for Robertson today but he still gets the job done as the Yankees win 6-2.
